Lions, and tigers, and bears, Oh my! Okay, so maybe not tigers, but they are kind of like lions so we’ll just go with it.
What I am referring to is the story of David. 1 Samuel 17:37 says, “The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” When David was watching his sheep and a lion or a bear came along, David would slay it to protect them. And there wasn’t just one bear or one lion. There were many that would come to try and kill his sheep, and each time David was faced with one he would kill it. When it came time to kill the Philistine, David knew God was with him and was more than prepared.
Prepared. Hmmm. So am I saying that each of those lions and bears was preparation for a larger battle that David would have to face? And that maybe if David hadn’t fought and killed those lions and bears he may not have been able to kill Goliath? Yes, I am. Each obstacle in life can either hinder us or prepare us for what is to come. It is our choice.
Why this story? What does it have to do with you? Well, first of all are you taking advantage of the preparation opportunities that are being placed in front of you or are you hiding away? Secondly, have you considered what is beyond your current situation that God might be preparing you for? Think about that. If you think what you are going through is so hard right now then think about the Philistine that might be out there waiting for you to kill it.
What is your Philistine?
