Lets talk about people. People are everywhere. There are people at the grocery store. There are people at school. There are people at our places of work. There are even people where we poop (if that be in a public restroom of course).
So obviously, when God created the earth he wanted there to be people in it.
As we go about our everyday lives, it would be very hard to not notice people. Everyday we interact and communicate with people. And each and everyone of these people are uniquely different from one another. Two people may live in the same place or work for the same company or go to the same school but their day to day experiences are different.
I love going to walmart because I love “people watching.” Some days it is more interesting than others, but every time it is always entertaining. So lets think about some roles of other people in our lives. People are entertaining. People are rude. People are funny. People are nice. People are caring. I am sure that you can think of many other roles that people fill in your life, but have you ever thought what overall role it is that you are supposed to be filling in other peoples lives?
John 21: 15-17 says that when they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.” Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.” The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.”
From this verse, I take that Jesus wants us to know that one way for us to show that we love Him is to love His people. Our overall role that we are supposed to be filling, regarding people, is to love them. We are called to love the people in our lives no matter what role they may be filling our own. This is hard. Especially when we do not feel much love from the people around us. But still we feed His sheep. We love His people in whatever capacity that may be.
